Skin Resurfacing with a CO2 Laser In Las Vegas, NV

As we age, our skin quality changes due to both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Intrinsic skin aging is determined by genetics and is a byproduct of physiological changes occurring over a period of time. Extrinsic skin aging describes the effects that our environment and lifestyle have on our skin’s aging process. Sun exposure, exposure to harmful chemicals from pollutants including cigarette smoke, diet, exercise, etc will all determine the rate at which skin aging occurs.

Skin resurfacing with a CO2 laser is an advanced cosmetic procedure designed to reverse the signs of both intrinsic and extrinsic causes of skin aging. CO2 laser skin resurfacing rejuvenates the skin by removing damaged outer layers of skin and stimulating new collagen production. This treatment is particularly effective in addressing wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, and uneven skin tone, providing a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

How Much Does CO2 Laser Resurfacing Cost in Las Vegas, NV?

The cost of laser skin resurfacing can vary based on several factors, including:

  1. Type of Laser Used. CO2 lasers tend to cost more than other types of lasers because of their advanced capabilities and the skill needed to safely and effectively render the treatment.
  2. The size of the treatment area. The treatment area can be as small as a tiny scar, or as large as the full face. Other common treatment areas are the eyes and the mouth. In general, the larger the treatment areas, the higher the cost.
  3. Multiple treatments. Many patients will require more than one CO2 laser resurfacing session to achieve their aesthetic goals.
  4. The experience of the provider is a very important factor. There are many different settings that must be carefully selected to meet each patient’s needs. If the provider chooses the wrong settings, the treatment can be ineffective or it can lead to permanent skin injury.
  5. Provider’s Expertise. Highly skilled facial plastic surgeons may charge more for their services.

Am I a Candidate for CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Ideal candidates for CO2 laser skin resurfacing are patients with visible signs of aging – including wrinkles, sun damage, or skin pigment and texture irregularities who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Those with lighter skin tones typically see the best results, as darker skin tones may have a higher risk of pigmentation changes.

What Are My Laser Skin Resurfacing Options?

Lasers are differentiated based on the gas that generates the laser light and the wavelength of light emitted – they can have variable intensity and target tissue interaction. The lasers used to resurface the skin are ablative, meaning they produce a controlled thermal injury to the skin. The subsequent recovery period will yield a fresh skin surface and induce new collagen production, resulting in improvements in wrinkling, as well as the tone and texture of the skin.

How Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing Performed?

Your Consultation

The consultation is an important first step in the skin resurfacing journey. Dr. Sina spends as much as one hour on his consultations because he considers the consultation a critically important opportunity to listen to his patients explaining their concerns in their own words and for him to explain how best they can achieve their aesthetic goals.

The CO2 Laser Resurfacing Procedure

Laser resurfacing, when performed as a stand alone procedure is done using a combination of topical numbing medication and regional nerve blocks. The net result is that patients experience minimal discomfort during the treatment. Many times, metal contact lenses are used to protect the eyes. Once the treatment is done, a thin layer of skin ointment is applied and the patients are free to go home with a driver.

In patients having combined procedures requiring general anesthesia, no topical numbing or nerve blocks are needed and the same care is taken to protect the eyes.

What Is CO2 Laser Resurfacing Recovery Like?

The post CO2 laser recovery is marked by an initial phase where the skin produces some scabbing. The scabs resolve in 2-3 days and the next period of recovery is notable for redness, swelling, and peeling for 7–10 days. The skin will look normal in the first 1-2 weeks but the full effects of the treatment will take time as the body produces new collagen. Patients are given detailed aftercare instructions, including avoiding direct sunlight, keeping the skin hydrated and using recommended post laser skincare products to ensure optimal results.

When Will I See My CO2 Laser Resurfacing Results?

The physiologic basis for the improvement of the skin is determined by the elimination and regeneration of the outer layer of the skin as well as a delayed collagen synthesis phase. The skin feels tighter and looks brighter within 2 weeks after the procedure once the swelling and redness resolve. Then there is a secondary collagen production phase that further improves the look and quality of the skin, this typically takes 6 to 8 weeks.
