Chin Implant Surgery In Las Vegas, NV

The size and position of the chin plays a critical role in facial balance and harmony. The chin, cheeks and nose are the holy trinity of facial balance and beauty. If any individual feature is too prominent or deficient, it can have a big impact on a person’s perceived attractiveness.

While many people with a small or recessed chin are born that way, the chin can also recede with age. For men, a strong chin and jawline is associated with strength and masculinity and in women an appropriately sized and positioned chin will make the lower face appear sleek and defined. For both men and women with a weak chin, the nose will always appear overly projected and “big.”

Dr. Mehdi Sina uses his years of experience as an expert in facial anatomy, balance and beauty and his eye for intricate detail to help patients look and feel their very best.

How Much Does Chin Implant Surgery Cost in Las Vegas?

The cost of chin implant surgery in Las Vegas may vary depending on the surgical technique, the skill of the surgeon and whether the chin implant is being combined with any other procedures such as rhinoplasty or facelift surgery. What Are My Chin Implant Surgery Options?

Chin implant surgery can be performed by making a small incision in a natural crease under the chin using just local anesthesia. Once the incision is made, a pocket is carefully created in which the implant is fitted and secured. It is very important to both make a precise pocket and to secure the implant so that it does migrate and create asymmetry after surgery.

Alternatively, some surgeons choose to make an incision inside of the mouth to access the chin. While it is true that there are no visible scars when using this technique, there are higher instances of infection and this technique tends to be more uncomfortable for patients. Dr Sina exclusively uses a submental (under chin) incision.

How Is Chin Implant Surgery Performed?

Your Consultation

The first step to any plastic surgery procedure is a comprehensive consultation with your surgeon. During this meeting, you’ll meet Dr. Sina and discuss your goals for the procedure. He will examine your lower face and chin and determine if chin implant surgery will achieve the look you want. It is important to distinguish a small or recessed chin from an underbite or other positional issues with the jaw. A chin implant is reserved for patients that have normal dental occlusion.

The goal of your consultation is for you to understand the procedure, its possibilities and limitations, and what you can realistically expect from the results. Dr. Sina will never convince anyone to undergo surgery—his goal is to give you all the information you need so that you can make an informed decision.

If you and Dr. Sina decide that chin implant surgery is ideal for you, he will create a custom surgical plan that best addresses your goals and needs. He will then provide you with an accurate cost estimate and pre-surgical instructions.

The Chin Implant Surgery Procedure

One of the most important steps in chin implant surgery is to determine the size and shape of the chin implant based on the specific needs of each individual patient. Prior to surgery, medical photographs are taken and morphing software is used to determine the aesthetic goals of the patient. Next, Dr Sina will pick the unique implant that will help achieve the desired results.

Chin implant surgery is typically performed using just local anesthesia. An incision is carefully marked in the natural chin crease, local anesthesia is injected to numb the area and ensure that the patient does not feel anything during surgery. Once the incision is made, a pocket is carefully created in which the implant is fitted and secured. It is very important to make a precise pocket and to secure the implant using sutures so that it does migrate and create asymmetry after surgery. Once the implant is secured, the incision is carefully closed in a layered fashion to ensure that the incision heals impeccably and that the risk of scarring is minimized.

Can a Chin Implant Surgery Be Combined With Other Aesthetic Surgeries?

It is common to combine chin implant surgery with other aesthetic surgeries when the chin is small or recessed. The strength and projection of the jawline and chin are critically important when performing facial rejuvenation of the face and neck with a facelift or neck lift. Submental or neck liposuction is also commonly combined with a chin implant when the surgical goal is jawline and neck definition.

Finally and very importantly, each and every rhinoplasty (nose job) patient must have their lower face and chin carefully evaluated for the need of a chin implant. In cases where a rhinoplasty patient desires a smaller nose or a nose that doesn’t stick out too far from their face, a recessive chin will have a limiting or negative impact on the final surgical result. A rhinoplasty and chin implant surgery can safely be performed at the same time with the added benefit of only one recovery period and a far superior overall result than a rhinoplasty alone.

What Is Chin Implant Surgery Recovery Like?

Right after your procedure, you will be a little groggy, a little sore, and bandaged. You will need a responsible driver to pick you up and ensure you get home safely. Your chin and lower lip may experience temporary numbness. Dr. Sina will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions—we recommend that you give a copy to a friend or family member so they can help you for the first night. These instructions may have the following recommendations:

  • Use cold compresses to reduce swelling and discomfort
  • Eat soft foods for the first 1 or 2 nights
  • Keep head elevated for first couple of nights
  • Be sure to take your medications as prescribed
  • Avoid heavy lifting and direct sunlight for 3 weeks.

Chin Implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient surgery. Patients typically return to work after a week or less. The key to a successful recovery is resting as much as possible and following the instructions given by Dr. Sina. The majority of swelling and bruising should be reduced by the end of your second week of recovery.

When Will I See My Chin Implant Surgery Results?

It will be difficult to appreciate the results of chin implant surgery in the immediate postoperative period because of swelling, but as you heal, you will begin to see the improvement in chin projection, jawline and neck definition and overall facial balance.
